Dosages — APA recommends only homeopathic dilutions; 0.5–3 g powdered seed; 0.5–2 ml seed tincture; 0.5–1 g extract; 0.5–1 ml tincture; 5 ml nux vomica elixir; 0.05–0.2 ml nux vomica liquid extract.

Contraindications, Interactions, and Side Effects — Not covered; Commission E reports the seed contains the toxic alkaloid strychnine. Poisoning can generate anxiety, backache, enhanced reflexes, equilibrium disorders, heightened sense perception, pain, and stiff neck, then convulsions, dyspnea, and twitching. Lethal dose ca. 50 mg strychnine.
