Safety & Contraindications
Coumarins may trigger hemorrhage and liver damage. New evidence cited in Marle et al. indicates that coumarin is not mutagenic, carcinogenic, or teratogenic in rodents. Coumarin failed to produce any sensitization reactions in 25 human volunteers. It therefore seems likely that coumarin has little toxic potential for humans with normal liver function.
