General Dosage
1–2 g flower as tea 3 ×/day; 2–4 g flower; 1–2 ml liquid flower extract 3 ×/day; 2.5–7.5 g flower tincture; 0.5–1.5 g root; 0.2–0.5 g finely cut root; 1.5–3 g root tincture.
Safety & Contraindications
Class 1. Occasional GI distress and nausea recorded. “Hazards and/or side effects not known for proper therapeutic dosages”. Commission E reports for flower, contraindications: hypersensitivity; adverse effects: GI disturbances. For root, GI disturbances. The Herbal PDR lists diarrhea, gastric discomfort, nausea, and queasiness as side effects of the root. CAN cautions the quinones are allergenic. May interfere with blood pressure therapy.
